Doumbek (Darbuka, Derbekke, Tabla)
The Doumbek is a goblet shaped drum, commonly made out of either ceramic or aluminum. The head is either made of goat skin, fish skin, or a modern synthetic skin. This drum is played all over the Arabic speaking world, Turkey, North Africa, and in Eastern Europe. Each region where this instrument has popularity carries with it a unique playing style, and unique rhythmic modes and feels.
